Benefits of Mountain Biking - Taking in the flora!

As you are no doubt aware Hampshire boasts some of the finest villages and countryside, most of which are only a bike ride away. So why not exercise in this great environment on one of our mountain bike circuits.

We have put together a number of mountain bike circuits to hopefully cater for all requirements. Safety is naturally of paramount importance and as such we will endeavour to bypass main roads wherever possible. Each circuit will have one of our instructors leading the pack, who will have covered the distance on previous occasions - therefore no excuses about getting lost!

Some of the circuits are totally on road, whilst others are a mix of both on and off road. The courses also vary in length, exercise and time. But all our circuits do have one thing in common, they are all thoroughly enjoyable.

Times and circuits

At 09:00 on Sunday mornings we will set out from The Park on an on/off road circuit, using predominately country lanes and byways. The main circuit should take approximately 2 hour and is about 20.0 miles in length. This circuit is for the more discerning mountain biker who wants a good aerobic and anaerobic workout (and has a good washing machine at home too!).

During the summer months we will also aim to run a Wednesday evening Mountain Bike ride. Commencing at 18:30, this ride will last approximately 1 hour and include both on and off road tracks.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Instructor led mountain bike circuits means cycling in a known and controlled environment
  • Many variations of circuit offer an enjoyable experience for the beginner through to the more experienced mountain biker
  • Outside cardio vascular workout combining fresh air and exercise in the countryside
  • Team exercise in a social environment means more enjoyable exercise and camaraderie

The Park recommends cyclists should wear protective clothing and head gear at all times and must adhere to the relevant Highway Code, Byway and Bridleway laws. The Club and its employees and agents shall be under no obligation and cannot accept responsibility in respect of the death and injury of Members, their family, guests or any loss or damage to their property in the Club, Club grounds or on Club activities which are external to the Club or Club grounds whether with a Member of staff or not, however, such death, loss, injury, or damages may be caused.
